Tools for Heart and Lungs /// cardio + Pilates

Combining Pilates-based movement, somatics, breath, and cardio for a deep sweat, heart-pumping pulse, and joyful bounce. Heart & Lungs is an invitation to explore cardiovascular movement as vitality and aliveness in the body. Supportive cardio utilizes rhythm and the buoyancy of the joints and tissues as a way to explore the strength of the heart and lungs. The class builds intensity in layers so you can navigate your own threshold, desire, and curiosity from moment to moment. Class includes standing sequences and movements on the floor.

Body Electric /// Pilates

Pilates based movement to explore strength and mobility. We will incorporate breath and movement from Qigong and pranayama from Kundalini Yoga to enliven the energetic body.  An energetic and strengthening class with a somatic approach to explore alignment, breath and enliven sensation. Class moves between standing and sequences on the mat both on front and back body.

Ecstatic Walking Practice

Saturday, March 27th, 1:00-3:00pm

Zoom 1:00-2:00, Walk 2:00-3:00pm

This workshop is offered as part of a creative process and choreographic practice, exploring emerging modes of togetherness through conscious dialogue with the senses. In the first part of this workshop we will explore practices that focus on the visual and auditory field; heightening awareness and entering a space of perceptual play. Beginning with gentle movement to explore the subtle energetic body, and ones own autonomous impulses, we will work primarily in a mode of improvisation to centre curiosity and pleasure in relationship with what we see and hear in our environment. Building toward an embodied state of joyful saturation, exploring rhythm and responsive dialogue.

The second portion of the workshop is an exploration that moves this practice outside, as part of a solitary walking score through your own neighbourhood, with an offered soundscape created by Matt Smith (Prince Nifty). The practice and walk explores bringing an embodied creative/choreographic practice into actions of the everyday. 


Class FAQ

  • Classes combine Pilates, Dance, Somatic movement and energetic practices from Qi-gong and Kundalini Yoga.

  • Classes use minimal props; a yoga or pilates mat, optional light hand weights (1-3lbs) and feedback props (pilates stability ball/rolled up towel or blanket).

  • Classes are open level with variations for intensity built in to sequencing. In all classes we will move between standing and the floor. If you have a sustaining injury of concern please reach out to Amanda beforehand.

  • all single classes are pay what you choose. Please select the pricing that works for you given your current circumstance. My hope is to provide access to movement and care for anyone who needs it.
